Take time out from the rush of city living and relax - no TV, no cell phone coverage, no neighbours. Just peace and beauty and homegrown food to nourish your body and soul.
Walk the hills, explore the bush, then enjoy the sunset and stars from the outdoor baths. From the homestead you will wander through the garden, into the trees and down into the cave.
As you stroll, climb and crawl your way through tunnels of Nikau Caves, you'll be met by a cathedral-like display of natural underground wonders. A ladder leads out of the cave into native rainforest through which you take a five-minute walk. The final leg of the tour brings you out onto the farm with wide views and a glimpse of the sea.
Nikau Cave is one kilometre long, has a stream running through it and is in its natural state. Most of the cave is open and spacious except for a ten-metre length, which must be crawled through. A wide variety of stalactites and stalagmites can be seen including giant pillars, fine straws and flowing shawls. The glowworms and their dewy threads may be studied up close. In the big, cathedral-like cavern they resemble the night sky.
